Kulang

Range: Kalsubai
Height: 1550 ft.
Grade: Difficult
Base Village: Kulangwadi, Ambewadi

Alang, Madan and Kulang, the forts situated in Kalasubai range, are the most difficult forts in Nasik District. Dense forest and less population have made these treks difficult. These three forts are little neglected due to very heavy rain and difficult as well as confusing ways to go.

Sightseeing :
Top of the fort caves for staying and water cisterns. Remnants of buildings are spread over the fort. The panoramic view offered from the top of Kulang is one of the best in the Sahyadris. One can see the forts in the Kalsubai range, Baleshwar range and hills right upto Naneghat and Dhakoba.

Ways To Reach :
Igatpuri/Kasara-Ghoti-Pimpalnermor-Ambevadi :
To reach Kulang, one should go to Kasara or Igatpuri and then Ambevadi by the Igatpuri/Kasara-Ghoti-Pimpalnermor route. Bus facility from Ghoti to Ambevadi is also available. Ambevadi is 32 km away from Ghoti. A bus is available at 6 a.m. from Ghoti to Ambevadi. We can easily see Alang, Madan and Kulang from here. From Ambevadi, a way goes to the ridge between Alang and Madan, traversing across Madan makes your reach Kulang. However this way is quite hectic and more difficult. Approximately 3 hours are required to reach near the ridge.
Igatpuri-Bahuli-Kulangwadi :
Reach Igatpuri. From Igatpuri board a bus for Bahuli. From Bahuli Kulangwadi is a 2 hrs walk. From Kulangwadi the way via the forest takes you to the common plteau whic is reached after traverisng from Alang via Ambevadi.
Not the climb is steep and you get to see some wonderfully carved steps in the rock further up in the climb, with a steep wall of rock on one side and a deep valley on the other side. This patch has to covered with enough care, for by this time people normaly are very tired. So be careful!

Accommodation Facility :
Caves on the fort are a very good shelter with water source close.

Food :
It is advsable to carry own food and cook.

Drinking Water :
Water is available in reservoirs in all seasons.

Time To Reach :
7-8 hours from Ambevadi, 3-4 hours from Kulangwadi.

Welcome
